My Mom found a bench at Hobby Lobby that she thought would look good on my porch, but when I went to my Hobby Lobby they didn't have it. I did find this one though.
I like it because it's simple and it has a very rugged feel, which is good because it is going to get rained on quite a bit. It would drive me nuts if I put something nice out and then it turned ugly...might as well put something ugly out and be happy when it stays ugly :)
When I came home and looked at my porch I started having seconds thoughts. The bench is pretty small compared to my porch.
Plus I started thinking I could make a bench like that to the size I wanted for 1/4 of the price. I'm thinking I'll call my Dad and ask him to come 'hang out' with me for the weekend :) What do you guys think? Should I just buy it and be done or put in the work and get more of what I want for less?
I'm probably feeling all handy because I FINALLY finished my guest bed headboard. I think I started this project 8 months ago. I kept losing interest, but I finally did it and it looks fantastic!!
This is what I started with...
After sanding, priming, blue base coat and then antiquing it brown (THANKS MOM) this is what I got. (it's not a very good picture, but I'm using it anyway because it makes the final product seem even more amazing)
I also made a frame for the back so I could hang the whole thing on the wall like a picture frame. I nailed the tin to it and then used liquid nails to glue the front pretty frame to the back hanging frame.
It looks a little small in the picture, but in the room it's HUGE and AMAZING! I'm glad Laurie talked me into, even if it has been the bane of Billy's existence for the past 8 months :)
